Why is the Earth magnetic?

It's probably due to the magnetic core.

The core of the Earth is made out of molten and solid iron and nickel, both being magnetic metals. The constant movement of the core probably creates the magnetic field of the planet.

Most metals are magnetic - they are attracted to a magnet.

These metals are also able to be magnetized - we can make them temporary magnets

How do we increase the strength of an electromagnet?

There are three ways we can make an electromagnet stronger:
1. Increase the current.
2. Increase the number of coils around the metal core.
3. Use a soft metal core.
