  • Time sampling

2

Frequency recording

  • Count number of behaviors happening at a given time

  • Most useful when behavior has a clear beginning and end

  • Happens for a consistent, brief time

  • Key words: How many times... *insert behavior*

  • To make it a numerical data set:

    • Notate how many opportunities were given during intervention

    • Mark the number of times child successfully performs task

    • Example: Child plays tambourine 3 out of 10 given opportunities = 3/10 = 30%

Multiple Select

Which of the following would be an example of frequency recording?

1

How many times child strikes the drum

2

The amount of times child verbalizes the word "happy"

3

The number of questions child completed during the test

4

How long the child takes to complete a math equation

Putting it into action!

Let's build a data taking sheet together

  • Client A will make a choice between 2 options with 60% accuracy within 7 trials, given no more than 4 verbal prompts by 5/1/2024.

Experiential Project #1

Get into groups of 3 students

  • 1 volunteer needed to be client

  • I (or another volunteer) will be singing "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean"

    Instructions

  • Work in groups to draw your own data taking sheet

  • Take data on: How many times the client accurately sings a word that starts with "b"

My bonnie lies over the ocean
My bonnie lies over the sea
My bonnie lies over the ocean
Bring back my bonnie to me

Bring back, bring back
Oh bring back my bonnie
To me, to me
Bring back, bring back
Oh bring back my bonnie
To me
