​Causative form (Câu truyền khiến bị động)

​Structures need/ want/ would like + object + past participle (V-pp) Example: Guest: I need my clothes cleaned. Housekeeper: Yes, sir. Is there anything else you want me to do for you? Guest: If you could iron some shirts and pants, I’d appreciate it. Housekeeper: We can do that for you.

​need + V-ing

Something needs doing (= something needs to be done)-một việc gì đó cần được làm.

Example:

Guest: My shirt needs pressing and I want it returned in thirty minutes.

Housekeeper: Certainly, I’ll do that for you right away.

​1. Laundry and housekeeping:

• May I be of service? (= How may I help you?)

• Could you tell me what you need in particular?

• Is there anything else I can help you with?

• Is there anything else we can do for you?

• When can I have my laundry back?

• I’ll send someone up right away.

• I’ll get someone to bring some up.

• I’ll see to it at once.

• I’d like to order room service.

• Could I have your room number, please?

• When would you like your breakfast?
