Separate Items in a List
When a list has more than two items, separate them with commas.
Because you pause between each item in a list, you need to place a comma between them.
Example: I ordered a hamburger, fries, a salad, and a Coke.

Review - Compound Sentences
Remember:
Compound sentences connect two complete sentences with a comma followed by a conjunction.
The conjunctions are FOR, AND, NOR, BUT, OR, YET, SO
Example:
The test we're taking is on block day, so we're reviewing today.

Introductory Phrases
Put a comma after the introductory phrase, before the main sentence.
Remember that sometimes you have a phrase that adds extra information to the main sentence. When this phrase comes before the main sentence, you set it off with a comma.
Example:
When I saw my friend walking my way, a smile broke out on my face.
