• The pigs devise a plan to conceal the lack of food from Mr. Whymper.

• They fill the grain barrels mostly with sand and a thin covering of grain on top.

• They select a few animals to mention within his hearing that rations have been increased.

Concealment

• The hens are told that their eggs will be sold. They rebel at hearing this, and fly up to the rafters where they can't be reached.

• To combat the rebellion, Napoleon orders the animals to not share food with the hens. Nine hens die from starvation before they capitulate and agree to sell their eggs.

Hen Rebellion

• The first animals to confess are four pigs. The dogs tear their throats out.

• Then, three sheep and a chicken confess to working with him, and a goose confesses to eating some corn.

• They are all executed.
