Parts of an Ecosystems
Biotic parts: Living parts of an environment (root bio-living)
Abiotic parts: Non-living parts of an environment. (Suffix a-without)
Add these two terms and meanings to your EES Vocabulary Chart (Item #4)
Add examples to your notes.
Both parts are interconnected through the ways they interact
2
Earth Sciences: Earth's Spheres
Earth is made up of four distinct yet connect spheres. In this video lesson, you will learn about where each sphere is found on Earth, as well as some features commonly found in each.
3
Earth’s Spheres (Systems)
Geosphere (lithosphere): Solid, rocky part of Earth
Atmosphere: Gaseous part of Earth about 10 km of the surface to hundreds of kilometers higher
Hydrosphere: All of the water (liquid, solid, gaseous) on and within the geosphere
Biosphere: All the areas in the geosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere that are inhabited by and support life
4
What belongs in the Biosphere?
plants
animals
bacteria
fungi
all living things
clouds
fog
oxygen
all the gasses
What belongs in the Atmosphere?
5
What belongs in the Geosphere?

How do the spheres interact?
Here are some examples:
Deer drink water.
Fish breathe air.
Trees make oxygen.
Birds fly in the air.
They are connected!
