Annotate Each Paragraph

​Think about all of the components of informational text including the text structure.

Set

• Read the question carefully, at least 2 times

• Find and underline target words

• Look for words like NOT, or DON'T that try to trick you.

• Look up words that you don't know in the dictionary.

Aim

• As you answer questions, find evidence in the text.

• Highlight or write down your evidence.

• Read every answer choice 2 times

• Eliminate answer choices that are incorrect.

• Identify the correct answer.

Today's Worktime Options

• Station 1: Writable- Mystery Bag Central Idea Practice- You will find the central idea of a group of pictures and tell how each picture contributes to the central idea.

• Station 2: Writable- One Text, Five Ways- Has 3 parts You will read an article, determine the text structure, and complete a graphic organizer. You will then read a second article and complete a Ven Diagram comparing them.

• Station 3: Writable- Breaking News!- You will select 1 of the provided articles to read, complete a non-fiction response log, and write a summary.

• Station 4: Writable- Ready-Set-Aim "Big Talkers"- You will read, annotate, and answer questions to a story on Writable.
