Effective technology integration is a nuanced and difficult thing to decipher, but this model helps us to think about practice along two lines.

Generally speaking, effective technology integration occurs more at the top-right of the model, while most of our practice lingers around the bottom-left.

CONTEXT MATTERS! 🧐​

There can be uses of technology that do not neatly fall into one category or another in the PIC-RAT model, because contextual factors may change the nature of the activity.

How are we encouraging students to use technology to create?

(Over passive “tap, tap” use.)

How are we using technology to transform and enhance on previous practice – how is it improving what we did before? (Rather than making previous practice “just digital.”)
