Subject Verb Agreement

When the prepositional phrases separate the subjects from the verbs, they have no effect on the verbs.

Example, The perspective of different people varies from time to time.

The analysis of the results reveals a significant difference between the groups.

The following words may be singular or plural, depending upon their use in a sentence, some, any, all, most. 

Example; Most of the flowers were yellow

Sometimes the subject is separated from the verb by such words as along with, as well as, besides, not, etc. 

•These words and phrases are called prepositional phrases and are not part of the subject. Ignore them and use a singular verb when the subject is singular.

Example- The politician, along with the newsmen, is expected shortly.

Expressions of time, money, measurement and weight are usually singular when the amount is considered one unit.

Ten days is (not are) not nearly enough time.
