Cara melakukan latihan meluncur dengan bantuan guru sebagai berikut :
Berdiri berhadapan saling berpegangan tangan
satu orang membungkuk dan guru siap menarik.
Tariklah ke depan dengan sikap telungkup lurus sejajar dengan permukaan air.
Orang yang menarik berjalan ke belakang

Gerakan Kaki
Gerakan kaki dalam renang gaya bebas, yaitu naik dan turun. Pada waktu menaikkan kaki, posisi kaki harus lurus, tetapi tidak boleh kaku.
Gerakan ini digerakkan oleh paha bagian atas, bukan dari lutut. Apabila menurunkan, posisi kaki tidak boleh bengkok. Usahakan agar ibu jari kaki saling menyentuh pada waktu kaki naik dan turun.
