Subject-verb agreement

When two independent clauses are incorrectly joined by a comma without a coordinating conjunction or appropriate punctuation.

When a sentence contains too many commas.

When a comma is used before a list.

When a comma is used after an introductory phrase.

Use a semicolon to separate the clauses and use a coordinating conjunction after the comma.

Add more commas and use a colon.

Remove all punctuation and rewrite the sentence.

Use only a period at the end of the sentence.

I woke up late I missed the bus for the third time this week.

The weather was hot, the air conditioning didn't work.

They went for a walk; they got caught in the rain.

She loves to read, and her brother prefers to watch movies.

Add missing subjects or verbs

Combine fragments with independent clauses

Attach the fragment to a dependent clause
