SUBJECT

PREDICATE

The part of a sentence that tells what the subject does or is. It usually includes a verb. Think of it like this:

• Tells what the subject is doing or what is happening to the subject.

The dog barked loudly.

Predicate: barked loudly

COMPLETE SENTENCE

• Has a subject (who or what the sentence is about),

• Has a predicate (what the subject is doing or being),

• Expresses a complete thought (it makes sense by itself).

The dog barked loudly.
