• lived in the Valley of Mexico in Central Mexico

• Valley is about 7,000 feet above sea level and surrounded by tall mountains on three sides

• Their water supply came from the nearby lakes

• The weather was cool so only limited crops could grow there​

Culture

Daily Life

• The husbands supported the family. The wives stayed home and took care of the family.

• The husband's relatives usually stayed with them.

• Education was a major role for the men. They were homeschooled until age 10 by the father's and then went to regular school where they learned religion and military training.

• Girls sometimes attended school but mostly stayed home and learned household skills.​

Language

• Their language was very unique.

• They used hieroglyphics

• Poetry was very important to them and was used in rituals​

Government

• Aztec people showed a great appreciation for their empire

• The more cities they took over, the more money they made

• This helped them build roads so they can trade easier

• After awhile, the people became resentful of their leader because of how much money the rulers had.​
