Exposition gives the reader the background info they need to jump right into your story’s world. It is usually found at the start of the plot.

Exposition can be given in a variety of ways:

• Flashbacks

• Character dialogue

• Letters from the past

• Setting or character descriptions

Rising Action

The rising action is the moments in your story that lead up to the climax

• Choices the characters have made and the events happening.

Climax

The primary turning point and what your story has been building towards. The main goal of the climax is to resolve the conflict.

Falling Action

The falling action is the events that lead to the resolution, it is meant to "tie up loose ends".

The resolution is the end of the story or plot. The conflicts are resolved; the characters have gone home. Usually.

What is point of view?

Point of view is what the character or narrator telling the story can see.

​Second Person

​First Person

​It means that we are seeing events through the eyes of the character telling the story.

​In second person, the narrator is speaking to YOU.

​Third Person

​With third-person point of view, the narrator is describing what’s seen, but as a spectator. If the narrator is a character in the story, then we are reading what he or she observes as the story unfolds.

This narrator has three possible perspectives:
