Remember the steps of rounding?

1. Find out what you're rounding to (nearest 10? 10 000?)

Eg. Round 67 203 to the nearest thousand

I am going to highlight or underline the thousands place, because then I know which place value digit I'm working with.

2. Identify your benchmark numbers (number line)

Eg. 67 203 is between

67 000 -------------------------- 68 000

3. Do I round up or down?

Eg. 67 203 is closer to 67 000, so I round down.
