During the mid 1800s the U.S. saw a large arrival of Chinese immigrants

• Where: mostly in the west coast, think California and Oregon

• What: many Chinese immigrants settled in the U.S. and worked on building the Transcontinental Railroad

• Why: originally coming to join the gold rush in the west to gain wealth
