I can explain how an author uses point of view to develop the perspective of the narrator or speaker in a passage. (R.L. 6.2and R.I. 6.6)

​Point of View-

• The narrator's voice

• Remember: The narrator is the person who is telling us the story

There are 5 Points of View

1. First Person

Use the pronouns: "I" "Me" "Myself"

• When the narrator is a character in the story

• It's personal

2. Second Person

Use the pronouns: "You" "Your" "Yourself"

• When the narrator is talking to YOU the reader

• always look at the words outside the quotation marks

2. Third Person

Use the pronouns: "He" "She" "They" "Them"

• When the narrator is not a character in the story

Remember: There are two different types of Third Person Point of View

2. Third Person Limited

Use the pronouns: "He" "She" "They" "Them"

• ​the narrator only knows and tells the thoughts and feelings of ONE character

• The reader can only see the thoughts of 1 character

• Thoughts of 1 character=Limited

2. Third Person Omniscient

Use the pronouns: "He" "She" "They" "Them"

• ​the narrator only knows and tells the thoughts and feelings of more than one character

• The reader can see the thoughts of 2 or more characters

• Thoughts of 2+ characters=Omniscient
