What are Rational Numbers?

• Definition: Rational numbers are numbers that can be written as a fraction , decimal, or percent

• Examples:

  • ½ .50 50%

  • ¾ .75 75%

Putting it all together

• Natural Numbers: Counting numbers starting from 1 (1, 2, 3, 4...).

• Whole Numbers: Natural numbers plus zero (0, 1, 2, 3, 4...).

• Integers: Whole numbers and their negative counterparts (-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3...).

• Rational Numbers: Numbers that can be written as fractions or decimals (½, -¾, 0.25, 2).
