Mass
To measure mass, scientists use either a balance scale or pan balance
The unit of measure for mass is grams (g) or kilograms (kg)
Mass measures how much matter an object has
A scientist will often measure the mass of an object and compare its mass to another object using the words heavier or lighter, more or less mass.

Volume
The measure of how much space an object takes up
Volume is measured using a graduated cylinder
Using the water displacement theory, scientists can determine how much space an object takes by determining the starting level of a graduated cylinder, placing the object in, and determining the ending level. The volume is found by finding the DIFFERENCE between the starting and ending level (subtracting)
Volume is measured using liters (L) and milliliters (mL)
