Present Perfect Tense

Present Perfect Tense is used to talk about past actions or events that still have a connection to the present: E.g. I have worked really hard this week

• We use for to indicate the duration of an action or event that started in the past and continues in the present:

  E.g. We have taught at this school for a long time.

• We use since to indicate the starting point of an action or event that is still in the present:

  E.g. Silvia has lived here since 1980.

For is used to indicate a duration of time and it's always followed by a specific length of time (e.g., hours, days, years).

Since is used to indicate a specific point in time and it's always followed by a specific date or time (e.g., 2010, last week,
this morning).
