Multiplication Strategies

​In this method, the goal is to break our numbers into smaller pieces.

​The pieces we use are place values.

• ​Break apart the ones place values

• ​Break apart the tens place values

• ​Break apart the hundreds place values

​Example:

• ​254

  • ​200

  • ​50

  • ​4

​In this method, we will break our numbers into to pieces, as we are working with two digit numbers.

​After breaking apart the numbers, we make an array and solve the multiplication problem step by step.

​Once done, we add up our results.

​In this method, we only break one of our numbers into its place values.

​After this step, we just add our answers together.
