Work = Force x Distance
By Newton's 2nd law, we know that it takes a force to change the motion of an object.
We also know that Impulse = Force x Time, so work is kind of like the distance version of impulse.

Power = work/time
It is harder to do work quickly then it is slowly, and this is where power comes in. It takes more power to push a box quickly across the floor, than it does to push the same box the same distance across the floor more slowly.
Power is measured in Watts. One watt (W) of power is consumed when one joule of work is done in one second. One kilowatt (kW) equals 1000 watts. One megawatt (MW) equals one million watts.
