REQUIREMENTS

PROJECT MUST HAVE/BE:

1. MADE WITH PINCH (HAND BUILDING TECHNIQUE)

2. NO LARGER THAN 4 INCHES

3. MUST BE SHAPED WITH HAND, FINGERS, PENCIL, OR ANYTHING AT YOUR TABLE

4. MUST BE SCORED AND SLIPPED TOGETHER

5. MUST HAVE AIR ESCAPE

6. MUST HAVE LARGE, SMALL, or MEDIUM SPHERES INSIDE WHEN SEALED

Larger clay balls make a deeper sound.

Small clay balls make a higher pitched sound.

Air holes, or vents, are added to clay pieces, particularly when creating enclosed forms.

This allows for proper drying and prevent cracking or exploding during firing by providing a pathway for moisture to escape as it evaporates.

This releases built-up pressure inside the clay body; essentially, they act as a release valve for steam during the firing process
