Irony is when there is a
difference between what is
expected or seems
appropriate and what actually
happens.

In stories, we find three
kinds of irony.

Situational Irony
Occurs when the reader is led to believe that one thing will
occur but in fact the opposite occurs. This can be
humorous or tragic.
