WHAT ARE PHRASAL VERBS?
A phrasal verb combines a common verb (like “make”) and a particle (like “up”) that alters the verb’s meaning.
Some phrasal verbs have two particles, such as “put up with".

WHY IS LEARNING PHRASAL VERBS DIFFICULT?
Meanings often cannot be guessed from the individual words (e.g., “take after” means to resemble).
The same verb can have multiple meanings with different particles (e.g., “come up,” “come across”).
