• For example, when you hear Nike's® slogan, “Just do it,” you probably think of sneakers or playing sports.

  • Their brand is associated with movement and athletics, so it makes sense that their slogan is all about being active

• When trying to create a slogan, it is a good idea to use strong words that evoke emotion or create imagery.

• You could also create a slogan that rhymes or includes alliteration to help the audience better remember it.

Selecting a Slogan

• Companies can use specific words, images, and sounds to create memorable slogans.

• When creating a slogan, you also want to think about your audience's emotional connection to your content

• Some slogans focus on a sense of safety, honesty, or family in order to make the audience feel more at ease or trusting of the speaker

  • Examples: Olive Garden's® slogan is “When you’re here, you’re family”

  • State Farm's® slogan is “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there”

Emotional Connection

• As you are thinking of what the slogan can be for your PSA, think about these questions:

  • What would you want your audience to remember most from your presentation?

  • How can you use strong words to create a concise message?

  • How can you use rhyme or alliteration?

  • How do you want your audience to feel when they hear your motto?

• You do not need to have your slogan completely figured out today, however, it will be a part of your outline in a few days... so start thinking!!!
