• For this activity, you will use what you learned, or should have learned, to see if you could have prevented the Fall of Rome!!!

• To do this, you will use the sheet provided to you and record your responses as you move through this presentation.

  • This simulation activity will look and feel a lot like our Nile River activity.

• BE WARNED, as with previous simulations, some actions are all good, bad or a mixture of good and bad outcomes!!! :)

Leadership Trait

• As an emperor, pick what trait you would like to have by selecting the letter next to the title.

  • Administrative Genius: (A)

    • Your ability to manage the vast day to day operations of the empire are second to none!!!

  • Military Genius: (B)

    • Hannibal and Julius Caesar have nothing on you, you are an expert at crafting battle plans and strategies!

  • Fiscal Genius: (C)

    • You are a wiz with money, unlike Commodus and Nero, and finding ways to help grow your empires economy!

Gold Pieces (Setup)

• To begin, we need to determine how many gold pieces you will begin with, so do the following:

  • Think of a number between 1-4.

• Once you have thought of a number, write it down and move on to the next slide.

Gold Pieces (Continued)

• The following numbers = the following amount of gold that you begin with:

  • 1 = 1,000 gold

  • 2 = 500 gold

  • 3 = 250 gold

  • 4 = 750 gold

• Be sure to record this on your sheet in both the Outcome and Gold Score boxes.

Hold up, If you selected (A) or the Administrative Genius trait, then you are able to cancel out your score and take 600 gold instead! After all, you are a administrative genius and would always make the right choice on how to best run the empire!!! :)

Hold up, If you selected (C) or the Fiscal Genius trait, then you are able to cancel out your score and take 500 gold instead! After all, you are a financial genius and would never make any of these choices!!! :)

Hold up, If you selected (B) or the Military Genius trait, then you are able to take the 500 gold instead! After all, you are a military genius and would defeat any opposing force standing in your way!!! :)
