Does anyone have any experience with an MRI?

It stands for magnetic resonance imaging and is a type of test a doctor can use to produce images of the inside of your body.

An MRI machine produces a magnetic field to scan your body.

Notice the word quantitative looks like the word quantity which refers to numbers

Examples: 65^o C, 55 mL, 4 N, 25 bananas

Examples: hot or cold, color, texture

Qualitative data

Science is something we do. Scientists collect data during investigations.

Understanding magnetic fields

Iron filings are magnetic and can help you visualize a magnetic field.

While viewing the video, ask yourself these questions:
Where is the magnetic field the strongest?
What does the magnetic field look like?
What is going on between the poles along the magnet?

​Now with the ring magnet, see if you can get the magnet on the pendulum to spin.

A similar phenomenon happens when you operate an MRI. The magnetic field of the MRI produces and image by changing the orientation of the atoms in your body.
