Conditionals

A proposed explanation or prediction that is written in an if-then statement. The part of the statement that comes after the "if"

​Hypothesis

Written in the form of: If p, then q.

​Conditional Statement

Concepts:

A statement that reverses the hypothesis and conclusion of the original conditional statement.

​Converse

Refers to the "then" part of a conditional statement, which is the outcome or result that occurs if the "if" part (hypothesis) is true.

​Conclusion

Concepts:

A logically equivalent statement that swaps the hypothesis and conclusion, and negates both.

​Contrapositive

The negation of both the hypothesis and conclusion of the original statement, while keeping their order.

​Inverse

Concepts:

​Example 1:

Conditional Statement: "If it is raining, then I wear my coat."
Converse: "If I wear my coat, then it is raining."
Inverse: If it isn't raining, then I don't wear my coat."
Contrapositive: "If I don't wear my coat, then it isn't raining."

Conditional Statement: "If it is Monday, then I will do cardio."
