Micropipettes
Used to measure small quantities of liquids
Unit is measure is the microliter (μL), 1,000μL = 1mL
1mL of water weighs 1g
Handle carefully, be gentle
Change tips between solutions; minimize number of changes
Never touch tip to anything
Don't lay it down with liquid in the tip

Micropipettes
To draw up liquid:
1. Depress plunger to first stop.
2. Place tip vertically into the liquid. Avoid touching sides or bottom.
3. Gently release plunger.
4. Remove tip from liquid.
To expel liquid:
5. Place tip into receiving vessel.
6. Press plunger to second stop.
7. Pull tip out of liquid before releasing.

Are rated by volume range, named by max volume
e.g. P20, P100, P200, P1,000
Read place values by placing the max volume in the window, starting at the top
Choose the smallest pipette you can for the task at hand
Never turn the dial to a value outside of that range
