• Climactic vs. Climatic

–Climactic (3 Cs) has to do with the word

climax (as in being at the exciting part or change in a story)

–Climatic (2 Cs) has to do with climate

• Bio = life
• Sphere = earth
• The biosphere is

all of the areas
of Earth where
there is life

The Biosphere

• The biosphere is made up of biomes
• A biome is an area on earth with

similar plants, animals, and climate

Biomes

Let’s Learn About Biomes:

•Climate: the average weather over a
long period of time




•Biome: similar areas/ regions as
climates, but Biomes include the
organisms and other biotic (living)
factors

Factors that divide biomes:

Abiotic (Non-Living) Factors
• Same that divide climate

zones

• Non living chemical or

physical factors like:
– Amount of light (because

of latitude)

– Temperature
– Precipitation
– Altitude
– Water

Biotic (Living)
Factors
• Living things like

plants, animals,
bacteria
