​What were the 13 Colonies?

Between 1500 and 1735 England (Later known as Great Britain) established 13 colonies in North America.

​Colony: An area claimed by and under the control of another country, usually that is far away, and is lived in by settlers from that country.

​A Colony is like one "pice" of an Empire. The country in charge, and all of its colonies together, make an Empire.

This is a map of the English (and later British) Empire in 1763.

• All 13 colonies were along the East Coast of North America, between the coast and the Appalachian Mountians.

• The 13 Colonies were a part of the English/British Empire - They were ruled by the English/British King or Queen.

​3 Colonial Regions:

Each Colonial Region:

• Secalized in producing one or a few products, depending on what resourced they had.

• Where Interdependent on eahc other for the products they did not produce.

Specalization: To specalize, to focus on producing one or a few products.
Interdependence: Two or more people/regions depending (relying on for suport) each other.
