Lisa Gomez was an influential women in the early 1900's. She was born in 1905 and grew in up a wonderful home. In 1925, she became the first hispanic woman to win "teacher of the year" for the state of Texas. Lisa continued to work with teachers to create lessons that would increase student knowledge in the area of science and math. She believed it was important for students to have the same opportunities, so she created a math and science camp for underprivileged students. Lisa died in 1995 but is still known for her great work.
