Comparing adjectives

Special adjectives change completely when comparing:

good better than the best

bad worse than the worst


many/ much more than the most

far further than the furthest

Comparing quantities

We can add more information to parts of the sentence to make our ideas clear.


We can talk about the quantity( how many/ how much) by adding words next to our nouns.


We can add quantifiers to countable and uncountable nouns.

You are writing an email to your friend about two convenience stores next to your home.

They are Quick Stop, Speedy Snack and 24/7.

Write down the answers to the questions about the three shops.

We use the same to talk about one thing that is exactly like another.

When two things are not the same we use different from.

We also use alike and like to say when two things look the same.

We can use like with the verb be and look, smell, feel and taste

We use alike after the verb be, seem and look e.g. the sisters look alike, the cakes are alike
