Discuss with your members and answer the following questions.

• Higher temperatures

• Less snowpack

• Melting glaciers

• Changing snow fall and rain patterns

​Higher temperatures is a sign of climate change.

​When a place experiences very high temperatures for a few weeks or possibly months, it is called heat wave.

Snowpack is important because it provides water to streams, rivers, lakes and reservoirs; gradually it melts.

As the world gets warmer, many mountain areas have less snowpack than they used to and this affects the amount of drinking water that is available to people who live there.

Warmer temperatures causing glaciers to melt.

The faster the glaciers and the giant ice sheets melt, the more water is added to the oceans.

This causes the sea level around the world to rise.

​Melting glaciers

The increased rainfall in some areas as well as the melting of glaciers has caused the sea levels to rise.

Rising sea levels.

​​Warming oceans.
It can kills many kinds of sea life, such as corals and fish.

​Changing snow fall and rain patterns.

As temperatures rise and the air becomes warmer, more moisture also evaporates from land and water into the atmosphere.
More moisture in the air leads to more precipitation, heavy rain and snow fall.
Some places get less precipitation, some become hotter and dryer and some tend to become colder and wetter.

​Smog

​Haze

​Smog. It is built up from vehicle engines and industrial smoke. It is yellowish or brown in colour.

​Haze. It is built up of fine particles of dust spread through the atmosphere from smoke from forest fires.

​Air Pollution

​Tropical storms

​Wilder weather.

​When the ocean gets warmer, hurricanes and other tropical storms grow stronger with faster winds and heavier rains.
