eLearning in elementary school is becoming extremely more common today, both in the classroom and at home with distance learning. It is very important that teachers are teaching their students how to properly use the technology tools safely.

Step 1: Begin with the Basics

Before you can do anything else it is important to start with the basics of technology. For example, young elementary students need to be explicitly taught how to log in to their computer or account. The next few slides will review basic skills to teach your early elementary students before diving into eLearning.

It is important for students to be able to recognize the important icons and apps that they will be using.

What browser does your school use?

How do students access the LMS and other online resources?

​Students need to be taught directly how to use these apps and websites.

• Instead of creating topics for every subject, creating a new class for each subject will help both the instructor and learner to stay organized.

1- Create Multiple Classes

• Before posting weeks worth of information, create topics for the week, date, or assignment content type.

• This will help you know where the content belongs, and will help your learners complete the proper assignments.

2- Organize with Topics & Categories

• Don't clutter your feed by posting a year's worth of work at the same time.

• Schedule posts to appear in your student's feed to go live on the date you'd like them to begin working on that assignment.

• Feel free to schedule months in advance!

• Create a topic where you can post materials (not assignments) with links to games and other important resources and websites that you will use often.
