Numbers are said to be in ascending order if they are

arranged from the smallest to the largest number

Example: 523, 547, 674, 679, 858

Ascending Order

Explanation

245 < 369 < 396 < 435

Descending Order

Numbers are said to be in descending order if they are

arranged from the largest to the smallest number

Example: 787, 747, 712, 643, 578

Explanation

Here, 98 > 78 > 39 > 20

So, the required descending order is

Elephants, Deers, Tigers, Leopards

Formation of 2-digit Numbers

without Repetition

Suppose we have two different digits 4 and 7.

To write the greatest number of 2-digit, we write the digits in descending

order that is 74.

To write the smallest number of 2-digit, we write the digits in ascending

order that is 47.

Note that with the digit 0 and the digit 7, only the number 70 is formed.

The number 07 is not a two-digit number.

Numbers with Repetition

To Form 2-digit number with repetition, we have to

write the digit twice

Example:

2-digit number using the digit 2 repeated twice is 22
2-digit number using the digit 7 repeated twice is 77

For the given three different digits, we place one digit at hundreds place

one by one and other two digits at tens place and ones place

Now keeping the hundreds place digit same, we interchange the digits of

tens place and ones place

Example:

The numbers using the digits 5, 3, and 4 are: 534, 543, 354, 345, 453, 435

(Total 6 numbers each of 3 digits)

Formation of 3-digit Numbers

without Repetition

To get the greatest number, we repeat the greatest digit at the remaining

places on the extreme left.

To get the smallest number, we repeat the smallest digit at the remaining

places on the extreme left.

Example:

To form the greatest and smallest 3-digit numbers using digits 7 and 3, we

use each digit at least once
