​A connotation is an idea or feeling which a word gives you, in addition to its meaning.

Dialogue is formed when a conversation between two or more people is written down.

Where should speech marks be placed?

-Around what someone has said.

"Can you help Pimmy with her spelling?" asked Teacher John.

Ryu said, "I am the most powerful students in Intertots."

​Commas in dialogue

When do we use commas in dialogue?

-To separate direct speech and reported clauses

"Let's get some ice-cream after school," said Oom.

"Once I get home from school," said Riya, "I'm going to sleep."

Simple sentences can be joined by using coordinating conjunctions

And - suggest that two similar clauses are linked.

I like pizza and I like hamburgers.

So- Requires the second clauses to follow logically from the first.

We have to get to school early so we have to go to sleep right away.

But- suggests a contrast or difference in the second clause

We all wanted to go home but the teacher hasn't finished talking.
