• ​​Planet earth is like an enormous puzzle.

• It has different parts that all work together.

• ​These parts are called spheres.

• Earth has four spheres: Geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere.

• These four spheres are contiually working together and interacting. Everything on Earth can be placed into one of the four systems.

• "Geo" means "Earth"

• The Earth's geosphere (sometimes called the lithosphere) is the rocks and minerals that make up Earth's landforms.

• Beaches, volcanoes, mountains, canyons, anthing made from solid Earth is part of the Geosphere.

• The Geosphere includes ONLY non-living things.​

• The Biosphere is the layer of Earth where ALL living things exist.

• The biosphere is part of many different biomes.

• Biome examples:​ deserts, forests, rainforests, wetlands, and grasslands.

• "Hydro" means water.

• The hydrosphere is all the water on Earth.

• This means EVERY drop of water in the OCEAN, RIVERS, and LAKES are all part of the hydrosphere.

• ​Even the water in the air belongs to the hydrosphere.

Hydrosphere

• ​"Atmo" means air. The atmosphere includes all the GASES on the Earth.

• The atmosphere is the thin layer of gases that surround the Earth.

• Most of the atmosphere is made of OXYGEN and NITROGEN.

• We need oxygen to breathe.

• The atmosphere is made up of FIVE layers and is responsible for Earth's weather.
