​The conditionals

​Conditionals describe the result of a certain condition.

Conditionals are also known as if clauses, we use them to say that one thing depends on something else.

​Structure

​If + You study hard + You will pass your exams

The if clause tells you the condition (If you study hard) and the main clause tells you the result (you will pass your exams).

The order of the clauses does not change the meaning.

​Zero conditional

The Zero conditional is used for talking about events which always happen under certain conditions, and they always have the same results, also called general truths.​

​First Conditional

The first conditional is used in situations in which if a condition is met, it is likely that a given result will be given.

It expresses a condition-outcome relationship in particular situations that occur in the future
