A citizen is a member of a community. Citizens have rights and responsibilities.

As family members, as students in a classroom and school, and as members of their community, state, and nation. Being a good citizen means:

​YES! You are a citizen of your classroom community. Everyone in your classroom works, learns, and plays together. The classroom has a leader - your teacher. Your teacher tries to make your classroom safe, fair, and fun. Teachers need help though, they need you to be good citizen

​A GOOD Citizen

​Thinks about the needs of everyone. Here are some examples:

-Be fair and polite towards others

-Treat everyone the same

- Work with others to share and get alond

-Help people who need help

- Don't give up on a job, even if it's hard

-Think about what everyone needs, not just what they need

-Don't expect a prize or a treat just for doing the right thing​

Responsibilities are duties that people are suppose to do in the communities.

Rights are given to citizens.

These include the right to free speech, privacy, religion, assembly, a fair trial, and freedom of thought.

​You can register to vote if you are a citizen who is 18 years old or older. Voting helps to decide who is in charge or your community, what tax money helps with, and solves problems. If you do not vote
