The Akkad was led by Sargon who began to conquer Sumerian city-states.

He combined them with Akkad​ to form the Akkadians Empire, the world's first empire, lasting over 200 years.

It would eventually take over all of Mesopotamia.​

In the 1800s B.C.E. - the Amorites conquered Mesopotamia.

Around 1792 B.C.E. - The Babylonian ​King Hammurabi conquered the Amorites creating the Babylonian Empire.
