PART 1: MEMBRANE STRUCTURE​

Cell membranes are made of fats called phospholipid​

Every phospholipid has 2 parts- a head and a tail​

Part 1: Membrane Structure​

The head ALWAYS touches the water and the tail ALWAYS avoids water.

The cell membrane is always moving. This movement is called FLUIDITY. ​

CELL TRANSPORT:

The cell membrane can move materials in and out of the cell​

Selective permeability= choosing what comes in and out

The cell has 2 types of transport: Passive and Active​

PASSIVE TRANSPORT

• No energy is used

• Molecules move from high concentration to low concentration until equal​

ACTIVE TRANSPORT

• Energy is used

• Molecules move from LOW concentration to HIGH concentration; uneven molecules on each side
