For abstract sentences/ideas, you should have more of a mental, emotional, or internal feeling. Usually, you CAN'T picture or visualize something happening in real life.
For example:
My love for her was so vast that my heart began to glow through my shirt.
We know that our hearts can't glow, and that his love is a feeling.
