Before we begin our lesson, you will be asked some short response questions. It is okay to not know the answer. Try your best to answer using your background knowledge about stars.

As we read, let's focus on answering the following questions:
What are the ways scientists categorize (classify) stars?
What is the main way of classifying stars?

What is one of the most important tools used to study stars?
What is an HR diagram?
Where do stars spend 90% of their lives according to the HR diagram?

Now that we have annotated together, we will practice using an HR diagram. You will need a pencil. Let's begin working on the Star Classification Lab, your teacher will model how to graph the stars in the table to begin classifying them.
