THE PASSIVE VOICE IS, SIMPLY PUT, A RESOURCE WE USE WHEN WRITING.

We commonly use the passive voice when we do not know who did a thing (AKA, the subject), when we don't care about the subject but rather about the action, or when we don't want to make anyone responsible.​

Si bien la voz pasiva es más difícil de encontrar en el castellano, vamos a verlo igual (porque nadie sabía lo que es!!!!)

El orden de palabras más común en español es el mismo que el del inglés:

^{(◕‿◕) sujeto + verbo + complemento/objeto directo.}

^{"Chester pateó la pelota."}

La voz pasiva del castellano también es similar a la del inglés - ^s

^{(◕‿◕) sujeto + verbo ser + participio verbal (+ agente)}

^{"La pelota fue pateada por Chester.​"}

EN ESPAÑOL

Luckily, English has a very defined word order. Sentences in the Active Voice (the most common) are always built this way:

^{(◕‿◕) subject + action (performed by the subject) (+ object)}

​^{"Chester kicked the ball".}

The passive voice, however, is built differently:

^{(◕‿◕)​ subject + verb to be + past participle + agent (optional - the agent is the one who actually performs the action)}

^{"The ball was kicked by Chester"​}

The grammatical subject is no longer the doer of the action, but rather the thing​ or person that the action is done to.

REDUCED RELATIVE CLAUSES​

Just like regular relative clauses, but reduced!

Sometimes, we can reduce a relative clause (repetitive, I know) be erasing the relative pronoun.

But when is sometimes?

Easy! When the relative pronoun is the subject of the verb in the relative clause.

And how do we reduce clauses?

When a clause is in the active voice, we use the present participle (-ing) of the verb.

When a clause is in the passive voice, we use the past participle (-ed) of the verb.​

PAY ATTENTION! - In the clauses that were in the PV we don't only reduce the relative but also the verb to be!
