First Person Point of View

• Author is a character in the story

• Uses pronouns: I, mine, me, we,us

• Reliable information because the events happened to the author

• You truly learn what one character is thinking.​

Third Person Point of View

• Author is outside the story

• Uses pronouns: he, she, it, they

• Author is watching something happen to someone else

• Author cannot know the feelings or motives of the characters

Text evidence

What do I mean by "text"?

It does not have to do with texting....

When I say "text", I am talking about any piece of text that you are reading. It can be a book, article or story.

When we use the word "evidence" in English class, it means words or ideas from a text.

When you compare, you look at how the texts are alike.

When you contrast, you look at how the texts are different.
