Pronoun: a word that replaces a noun

Examples: He, she, they, we, it, you, me, I​

When we talk about pronoun case, we are referring to how it is being used in the sentence. ​

​

There are three types of case

Objective

Subjective/Nominative

​I, you, he, she, they, we, it, who

​Me, you, him, her, them, us, it, whom

Possessive

​My, mine, his, hers, your, yours, their, theirs, our, ours, its, whose

Subjective case pronouns...

act as the subject of the sentence.

She was taking notes.

​

We ate icecream for dinner. ​

​

Objective case pronouns...

act as a direct object, indirect object, or object of the preposition.

​

I threw the ball to him.

​

I gave them a cake.

​

​Take her to the store.

​

It can get a little tricky...

Sometimes the subject or object has two pronouns!

She and I went to the store?

​

She and me went to the store?​

​

Here's a tip: Take the "She" out. What are you left with?​

​

What is a direct/indirect object again?

​Direct and indirect objects receive the ACTION of verbs. They come AFTER action verbs.

​

Indirect objects will come AFTER the action verb but BEFORE the direct object.

What about object of the preposition?

These are nouns or pronouns that follow a preposition.
