Strategy - Line up the numbers

Align the numbers based on their place value. Then compare the numbers from the highest place value to the lowest until one place value is greater than the other.

Comparing Decimals

Comparing decimals works the same way as comparing whole numbers.

Step 1: Line up the place values

Step 2: Start from the greatest place value and compare each digit until you have a digit that is greater than the others. That is the greater number.​

When comparing multiple numbers line all the numbers up vertically based on place value. Then compare each digit starting with the highest place value.
