Most English -ly adverbs have Italian equivalents

Italian equivalents end in -mente

English -ly adverbs are created by attaching -ly to an adjective(usual/usually, general/generally)

in Italian, -mente is attached to adjective, which is first changed to feminine form:

eg. solito-solitamente(usually),

raro-raramente(rarely)

most adjectives ending in -e form adverb by just attaching -mente.

felice-felicemente(happily),veloce-velocemente(quickly)

one exception to rule of adjectives ending in -e involves

adjectives that end in -le or -re.

adjectives ending in -le or -re must lose the "e" before -mente is added
